WordPress Taxonomy Generator
Create clean register_taxonomy() code in minutes — labels, linked post types, hierarchy, REST API, and admin columns included.
Built for developers who organize custom content with genres, categories, tags, and custom taxonomies — without rewriting the same registration boilerplate.
Taxonomies shouldn’t slow down every project
Every custom post type needs a way to organize content. That means taxonomy keys, labels, object types, hierarchical flags, REST support, and admin columns — again and again.
The Zelvigo Taxonomy Generator turns a short form into production-ready PHP you can copy into a plugin or bundle with a CPT inside a plugin ZIP.
What you can generate
- Taxonomy key with validation (reserved keys like
categoryandpost_tagblocked) - Singular & plural labels for admin UI
- Linked post types — comma-separated keys (e.g.
post, movie) - Unregistered post types supported with confirmation — build taxonomies before the CPT exists on the site
- Public, hierarchical, Show in REST API, Show Admin Column options
- Copy PHP from the list screen into your plugin

How it works
- Open Zelvigo Dev Studio → Create Taxonomy
- Enter taxonomy key, labels, post types, and options
- Click Generate to get registration PHP
- Copy into your plugin — or include it in a Plugin Boilerplate package
Generated taxonomies are stored in Zelvigo until you paste or export them. They are not auto-registered on your site.
Works best with
- CPT Generator — create the post type first
- Settings API Generator — plugin options
- Plugin Boilerplate — CPT + taxonomy in one ZIP
Frequently asked questions
Can I link a taxonomy to a CPT that isn’t registered yet?
Yes. Zelvigo prompts for confirmation on unregistered post types. Keys already generated in Zelvigo are accepted automatically — useful when building a full plugin package before install.
Does generating a taxonomy create it on my live site?
No. You copy the PHP or export a ZIP. Registration happens only when that code runs in a plugin you install.
What do I need?
WordPress 6.5+, PHP 8.0+, and an active Pro license for cloud generators.
